about

Regarded one of Sweden’s leading jazz singers and composers, Jeanette Lindström received a Swedish 'Grammis' for Best Jazz Album of the year with Attitude & Orbit Control in 2010. In 2020 this album was mentioned as one of the 100 most important Swedish jazz albums through all times by the Swedish music magazine Lira.

Jeanette has that ability to set the imagination of the listener in movement with her voice, her music as well as with her words. Her sixth solo album Attitude & Orbit Control is hard proof. A space odyssey of sorts, interpersonal as well as interstellar. Micro- as well as macrocosmic forces at play. Fellow travelers include, except for her band, co-writing guest vocalist Robert Wyatt, producer and drummer Magnus Öström of e.s.t., as well as lyrics contributor Sidsel Endresen.

Jeanette Lindström wanted to move on, this time further than before. To write in a new way, to concentrate more on production and instrumentation. After her previous album of original material in 2005 she had changed record label, started a new band and further developed her sound, moving forward musically - a long journey with interesting and important encounters.

"To work with Robert Wyatt meant a lot and was very gratifying. My co-work with Magnus was also decisive, his input tremendously important. We worked hard and intensely and without him this album would not have become what it has. And of course I felt immensely happy with my new band at the time. They were all important parts of this creation."

The result was a fresh band that took on strong tunes, with a focus on pop-like structures, chiselled arrangements and sound. All in all, a totality characterized by its playfulness and seriousness. As on most of her albums, A&OC comprises mainly original material, one cover, The Flaming Lips’ song 'All We Have Is Now' the only exception this time.

"Sophisticated, and absolutely outstanding." Review 5/5
